Captain Rupert by Alan Jeffries

Captain Rupert by Alan Jeffries is a Jersey-based storytelling and publishing venture centred around a series of imaginative children’s books inspired by island life. Created by Alan Jeffries following a long career as a Chartered Accountant, the stories were originally written for his grandson, Bertie, before evolving into a published series enjoyed by a wider audience.

The books follow the adventures of Captain Rupert, a pilot, and his loyal dog Laurie, as they explore Jersey, solve mysteries and embark on exciting escapades. Set against familiar island landmarks such as Gorey Castle, Durrell Wildlife Park and the Oyster Beds, the stories celebrate Jersey’s unique character while encouraging imagination and curiosity.

Blending humour, adventure and local identity, the series has become a charming way to engage children with storytelling and reading. The project reflects a genuine passion for creativity and the importance of nurturing young imaginations through meaningful, locally inspired content.
